Giant Sea-Devil

"I have been allowed to be a member of the autopsy being performed on the remains of the giant invertebrate that was killed in La Salina Cove of Baja California yesterday. The prior work of Dr. Baldwin has told us that the animal was a giant single-celled creature that was mildly radioactive. The entity is believed to have been lurking within the cove since around 1945, if the locals are to be believed, and may have been somehow irradiated and mutated by radioactive fallout. The creature had a single massive, red, bio-luminescent nucleus that reportedly bore a distinct resemblance to a fearsome eyeball. The creature was killed when Dr. Baldwin drove his mini-sub directly into the giant nucleus as the brute menaced a young artist named Julie Blair. Blair had been tracking the monster down for several days, and was apparently insistent that the beast was real while most scientists in the area dismissed it as a local legend. Ms. Blair collected quite a bit of information on the creature as a result, which is where any information that wasn't revealed by Dr. Baldwin's studies came from. Apparently, its behavior corresponded to lunar cycles, and it came closer to the surface as the moon grew brighter. It only ever breached the surface on nights when a bright full or near-full moon was visible overhead. The creature was carnivorous, and would absorb any animal it could find and envelop. 

After the Rhedosaurus incident from last year, I'm beginning to wonder if nuclear weapons might just be the source of a new generation of mutated monstrosities. I have been getting wind of disturbing rumors from the New Mexico desert and the coast of Japan, but only time will tell if these reports will result in anything at all..."

Reality check: this is the creature from "Monster from the Ocean Floor". I do not own the rights, etc, etc...
