Description

"As the sun began to set on July 12, 1967, the world was stunned by the sudden appearance of King Kong thundering towards Tokyo, with a gigantic mechanical doppelganger of himself hot on his heels. The great ape clambered up the side of Tokyo Tower, with the machine close behind. After a tense struggle, the robot suddenly clambered above Kong on the tower. The entire tip of the structure snapped cleanly away, and the machine seemed to lock up for no apparent reason. The robot and the tip of the tower crashed to the ground in a shower of sparks, and the huge machine was smashed on the pavement below.

Immediately afterwards, King Kong descended the tower as the sun began to rise, and in a sudden flurry of activity, waded into the harbor and smashed a boat that appeared to be speeding away from the city. The great ape then turned and waded into the ocean, and vanished.

It wasn’t until the following few days that the story was extracted from various government and law-enforcement agencies that the whole story came to the public eye. The deranged and brilliant “international Judas” known as Dr. Hu had apparently found a vast deposit of the radioactive “Element X” near the North Pole, and had created a gigantic mechanical doppelganger of the great ape – named “Mechani-Kong” – to mine the element as his servant (apparently fulfilling his fantasies of controlling a giant monster). However, the machine’s controls fused and were rendered useless by the radiation.

After the rediscovery of King Kong on the remote Mondo Island caught his attention, Hu – who was apparently working for an unnamed Asian nation that planned on using the Element X to give their secret nuclear test program a jump-start – kidnapped the great ape, and tried to use hypnosis to force him to mine for the element.

It did not end well, by all accounts. Kong broke free, with Dr. Hu and Mechani-Kong in hot pursuit, whereupon they entered Tokyo. Dr. Hu was apparently in the ship that King Kong destroyed at dawn, and it’s believed he went down with the ship."

Reality check: this is Mechani-Kong, from "King Kong Escapes". I do not own the rights, etc etc...

I forgot where I heard this... One of the many rules of the internet, "Every giant monster must have a giant robot version of it."
